Operations Manager (Gas Turbine) - Abu Dhabi Operations Manager (Gas Turbine) - Abu Dhabi Engineering & Technical

 

 

 

One of our clients, a leading power plant construction, power equipment manufacturing & maintenance industry is looking for a operations manager for their office in Abu Dhabi.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

 

1.

Manage the entire scope of operations (Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, QC and Maintenance Department) in the most effective manner to ensure company meets its operational targets

2.

Ensure that business operations, i.e engineering, repair research & development, and refurbishment activities, are performed efficiently and effectively in order to support the achievement of the Company goals and the customer satisfaction, in compliance with QHSE requirements; the position has also the main objective of supporting the capitalization and increase of the technical knowledge of the company, improving the information management, with the aim to constantly increase the quality of the products and services delivered to the customers.

3.

Manages and overlook the whole operational aspects of the repair shop including maintaining the wellbeing of company assets and machineries, Supply Chain activities,  and overall planning of Production activities.

     

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.

Effectively manage the Engineering, Component Repair shop and Quality Control teams enabling them to deliver high quality service, on time delivery and operational execution according to Customer and contractual needs and in compliance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives

2.

Ensures continuous improvement of the Operations Department regarding  cost & process efficiency and quality by advising Executive Management on improvement possibilities and plans as well as implementation of approved improvement actions according to company standards

3.

Managing the Component Repair Shop department by planning and monitoring of (repair) work in accordance with work instruction and applicable repair procedures to ensure high quality repairs of Gas Turbine components and other related equipment.

4.

Manages development and improvement of repair procedures, as well as workflow process improvement maximizing the utilization of resources

5.

Responsible for setting (planning) priorities in collaboration with contract managers and other department managers and advices the executive management on capacity issues

6.

Responsible for developing operation plan as per organizational and departmental goals and objectives

7.

Responsible for developing and controlling time and costs of (repair) work according to set plan and budget

8.

Manages quality control for all materials and goods that pass through the workshop (in & out), in accordance with company standards and client agreements. Liaises with the QSHE department in case of discrepancies and advices and implements improvement opportunities

9.

Ensuring that communication between departments is ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.

10.

Effectively guide, develop, mentor and coach the direct reports not limited to Team Leaders & Supervisors, to ensure their personal development and continuous improvement

11.

Supervising and directing the technical personnel responsible for every stage of production to ensure high quality and cost effective repair

12.

Responsible for the Component Repair staff working in accordance QSHE requirements, by training and instruction about safety rules to the component repair staff (as well as temporary sub contracted staff)

13.

 

     

 

SPECIFIC TASKS:

 

1.

Conducting regular staff meetings including review and development meetings and regular production meetings

2.

Communicate with QSHE department to ensure all processes remain compliant with OSHAD and other governmental regulations

3.

Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints

4.

Support the commercial department in acquiring Repair projects

5.

Manages preparation of work that will be subcontracted and contact subcontractors about progress

6.

Manages and responsible for maintaining production tools (shop furnishing and tools)

7.

Creates frameworks for outsourcing and sub-contracting activities by identifying and assessing external (sourcing) suppliers

8.

Responsible for arranging reports, cost prices and work scopes for repairs for customers

9.

Create, monitor and control budget for related departmental budgets in line with the overall cost centre budget.

10.

Collaboration with Finance reporting hourly cost targets, annual numbers of hours and other related finance reports.

11.

Manage and control with Supply Chain the performance analysis of inventory and ensure the utilization of  inventory effectively, purchasing the right materials on time and maintaining solid inventory data.

12.

Act as a technical adviser on key projects and other areas of the business as requested

13.

Act as a liaison to executives and management for updates with workshop matters.

14.

Responsible to ensure the performance of the Department, identifying and monitoring proper KPIs; act and take appropriate (preventive) actions whenever deviations from the original targets are identified.

15.

Keeping track of technological developments by visiting seminars, professional literature and education

16.

Identifying any skills gaps in the organisation and undertaking a recruitment and succession program.

COMPETENCIES:

 

Education

Bachelors or Master’s degree should be in operational management or other business related area

Additional Training/ Knowledge

Have comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, methods, design, testing and implementation

Experience in operational management

- Six Sigma Black Belt

- 5s Methodology

- Lean management

-  heavy Duty Gas Turbine Training

- SSC** Full (VCA Vol) certified

Experience

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Industrial Turbine applications.
